Installfest 2008

When: 12:00 P.M. on Saturday November 29, 2008

Where: In the ACM Office/Linux Labs in SEL 2262

What: The Installfest is a UIC-LUG sponsored event where you can bring your computer or laptop to have Ubuntu Linux up and running on your computer with a few extra goodies. There will also be UIC Alums giving talks about some open source projects.

Why: We will have FREE PIZZA, supply an environment where you can learn to install and use Linux, and we will be selling flash drives with Pendrivelinux 2008 pre-installed on them for a fundraiser.

Speakers:

Roberto from Motorola will be giving a talk about the Android platform and G1 Phone

Nemanja Stefanovic from Novarra Inc. will be giving a talk about the openmoko platform

Other Info:
You can bring you laptop or your tower. We have network cables and power strips to spare along with a good amount of table space.

In terms of the flash drives, as a fund raiser for LUG we will be selling Kingston 2GB USB 2.0 flash drives for $10.00 pre-installed with Pendrivelinux 2008:

With this you can carry a portable Linux distribution with you at all times. Pendrivelinux 2008 allows you to boot Linux on any computer that supports booting off of a USB stick.

If you have never been to the ACM office, this is a great event to come on in and meet some new people and see what LUG and the ACM is all about. We should be well fed and relaxed, so that means most of us should be in a good mood :)

If you are interested in helping out with this event then send me an e-mail at trabcz2@uic.edu any help is greatly appreciated.
